Hurricane Ike and weddings
I can't help but think of Kevin's wedding this week-end and that Hurricane Ike is the news topic. Why you might ask? Anyone who has been a following this site knows that Kevin loves weather events. From blizzards to droughts, he likes to think of himself as an amateur meteorologist. So Hurricane Ike happening this weekend, even though a catastrohpe, still fitting for the guy who enjoys weather news. Many of us remember events not only because of the event but also what was happening outside of our own world. For example, I remember my senior year in high school not only because it was my senior year but also because of the blizzard of 78. No school for a month and then we had to go to school on Saturdays to help make up for the missed days. I remember my sister-in-law's wedding not so much for the ceremony but for the worst snow storm since 78 happening on the same night. So do any of you out there have some stories like this to share with Kevin and us? Might be fun for him to see that it not only him that has something else big happening on his big day.

I read this post BK, and you are right...Meteorology is an interest of mine and it just seems like I ALWAYS miss the interesting stuff...always, always, always!!!:( Not that I think it would be fun to be in Ohio now with all the power outages, stuff like that...but, sheesh, it just seems whenever a huge, historical weather event occurs in Ohio,I am absent:(
Re: Hurricane Ike and weddings
Today is day 3 that CPS are out due to no electricity to all the schools. I'm back to work today. I have a friend in Louisville that said that they are reporting that hospitals are their first concern, follow by hotels, then schools and homes. Why hotels? The Ryder's Cup is this week-end there and many out of state/country/you name it are in town and they are making them one of the top priorities.

I am glad we live far away from Hurricane Ike! And it is probably the reason we are having such a beautiful weekend!! I was watching the weather channel last night (one of the rare times that we plug the cable cord into the tv) I really feel for all those folks who for one reason or another live in that area, what a mess they will be dealing with for the next week or so.
