recipe equal measures

Kevin,
I was thumbing through some recipes this AM and ran across Lovina's recipe for Hearty Winter Casserole, the recipe calls for 1 pound of egg noodles. Why is the measure in pounds? Is that cooked, dry or homemade egg noodles? And how much, either in packages or in cups?

Taste of Home like the magazine? Yes, that would nice if you get the chance, they have lots of southern recipes so they probably know how to do homemade noodles. Being a busy family though we just buy pasta dried from the store.
Now that we are back into the evening activities mode, I am reaching into my quick and easy meals resources, which includes lots of casseroles and dump recipes with premade ingredients (ie meatballs from Costco).

Just got home, and the TOH Cooking School was wonderful (as usual!). Yes, it is put on by TOH magazine, which I am a LOOONG time subscriber. It is great fun. Go to their website and look at the tour schedule because there will likely be one near you at some point. They cook, you get a goodie bag full of magazines/coupons/samples, and TONS of door prizes.
I didn't get the chance to talk to the host, but I am pretty sure I made this recipe before...and I think I made it with the dry bagged noodles, measured before cooking.

Sounds really fun. My Mom subscribes off and on, my Grandma when she was living was a subscriber too. Unfortunately, they aren't coming to this area. Lucky you! I am glad you had the chance to get out sans two little girls and have a good time!!!

KJB, I have often wondered the same thing! Sometimes the recipe will specify "1 lb. of dry noodles/pasta, cooked" or something like that. Tonight I go to the Taste of Home Cooking School, so I will ask one of the presenters if I should get the chance. I guess i have always just assumed that it meant 1 lb uncooked noodles, as it would be very hard to measure out the dry noodles and know how many would yield 1 lb of cooked noodles.
