Mock Apple Pie

TomK's picture

Mock Apple Pie or Dry Apple Pie

This is one of those simple Chuck wagon recipes that 'cookie' used to use, that really gives a surprising result.

Break 12 soda crackers into a bowl and and add 1 cup of cold water, 1 cup sugar, juice of one lemon and a little nutmeg or cinnamon.  Pour into unbaked pie shell.  Dot with butter; cover with top with pie crust
and bake in a moderate oven for around 30 minutes or to a golden brown color.

Re: Mock Apple Pie

Tom, that recipe sounds like the one for Mock Apple Pie that used to be on every Ritz Cracker box when I was a kid. Have you ever tasted it? Susan
