Fruit Flies -- AAAAGGGGHHHH!

Just wondering if anyone else had the major onslaught of fruit flies that we had this summer? They are still around altho not as bad as a few weeks ago.  And I'm curious what you use to get rid of them.  We put out dishes of apple cider vinegar with a couple of drops of dish soap which catch and kill tons of them but I also think it draws in more than would have been there to start with.  Such a dilemma.

I put vinegar and a bit of honey into a custard cup and put foil over the top -- pressed down on the sides, not just laying on top.  Then poke a finger sized hole through the foil. They go in but they can't get out.

I only get them when I have over-ripe bananas sitting around.  When the bananas go, so do the fruit flies...thank goodness!!!

Yes!  We have had them, too, and they were driving me crazy!!!

we had a similar problem, only they were drain flies, I went to our local cooperative extension and they told me to make one of these, it worked like a charm, when it's full, you toss it and make another, check out this link, it really works
