More Amish Community Locations?

I live in west central Vermont, not far from Lake Champlain.  Years ago, a group of Amish families purchased a very large cattle operation (would be considered a ranch in the west) and stayed about 3 or 4 years at the most.  They grew vegetables to sell.  But they were never heard from again.  About 3 years ago I was visitng someone in Burlington's large medical center hospital and rode up in the elevator with a middle-aged Amishman.  We didn't chat as we only overlapped by one floor. But I was surprised because as far as I know there are no communities in Vermont.  We are close to New York's North Country, however, only separated by Lake Champlain.  Does anyone know of any communities in the area that I may now be aware of?

I would like to know if there are any communities around Kyle/San Marcos TX?  I visited friends in TN and we purchased vegetables from the Amish and it was so delicious.

Re: More Amish Community Locations?

None really close to you, Fall...Texas just doesn't have many "plain" settlements, there are Amish near Beeville and near Waco and a handful of Mennonite settlements out Odessa....But that is about it for the Lonestar State!

Thank you

Sorry, "may NOT be aware of."

Re: More Amish Community Locations?

Piper, there are now Old Order Amish settlements throughout the North Country in New York state...and there are now Amish communities in Maine, so you could well have run into an Amish person who could have lived in northern New York State and just gone for some sort of medical procedure in Burlington?
