Lost a dear friend recently & she took with her, an amish table blessing that she found on a placemat in a resturant in Shreve, Ohio. Would anyone happen to know if there are any traditional blessings that are said before a meal? It was so lovely-I miss her & the prayer...

Re: amish table blessings
Amish do say silent blessing before and after each meal. Sometime a child will recite a special prayer outloud, but mostly it is done as a group in reverent silence.

Yes, grace is silent before meals. But then the table blessing in question was on a diner placemat. I am not sure that qualifies as being theologically significant. :-)
Re: amish table blessings
I thought the tradition was that everyone bowed their heads and said a silent, individual grace?
