SNOW, SNOW, SNOW!
Well, here in southeastern PA we have about 2 feet of snow and it's still coming down. My two little guys decided to go out and play. The drifts were up to their heads in areas and the winds are whipping. They only lasted about 30 minutes and I made them come in. They've already called off church services for tomorrow. We were supposed to deliver soup to a retirement community tomorrow for "souper"bowl Sunday. I don't know if we'll get to do that or not.
Has anyone else received a ton of snow???
Amish Cook Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Brownies
I just made a batch of these for a bake sale. I'm not sure if they are going to make it long enough to get to the sale
They look and smell sooooo good, that I just want to eat them all!
Has anyone else made these before, and if so what did you think about them?
I've made them about 2 years ago and I think they are the greatest thing EVER! Unfortunately, they are extremely rich and if you eat too many you get a belly ache. The belly ache is well worth it though.
More weather woes....
We had an ice storm Saturday night into Sunday here in SE Pennsylvania. The roads cleared by midday, BUT last night the power went out. We were without heat for most of the night. I finally brought my little ones downstairs to lay in front of the gas fireplace. Thank goodness it doesn't need electricity to start it. The power was out for about 7 hours. It came back on just in time for my oldest to get ready for school!!!
I hope everyone that was in the path of this storm is doing well. I know there are others that got hit a whole lot harder than we did here.

Cucumbers...cucumbers...cucumbers!!!
I have an OVER abundance of cucumbers this year. Seems like we pick atleast 6 or 8 every night. We picked one last night that was 11 inches long and weighed in at 1 lb 11 oz!!!! That's a big cucumber!
My husband takes most of them to work and gives them away. I really don't know of anything to do with them besides making cucumber salad or putting them on a salad. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Our tomatoes are going crazy also. My husband just made some delicious salsa with a big batch of tomatoes from the garden. Since then, I have picked dozens more. I decided to make spaghetti sauce with them. It's simmering on the stove right now, and smells wonderful! I can't wait to eat it!!!!
Squash Flowers
My boys and I just went to the small Amish market down the street today. They had the most beautiful squash flowers I've ever seen. The owner was telling my sons how if you pick the flowers first thing in the morning you can stuff them, cook them and eat them. My boys looked at him like he had two heads or something!
They could not believe that you could actually eat a flower.
I don't know that I would actually eat them myself, but they looked really good!
